is in the program can give more nuanced information, she has been in the program
for 1 year, Jerry for 2 years in IT
Have good working relationships with local districts, Thomas
Jefferson district in northern VA, Durham NC, Philadelphia
- some are grant driven, but not all
don't believe in distance learning, believes in collaborative
learning / collaborative education
- goal of distance learning is delivering content at less
cost (efficiency model)
- goal of education (from his perspective) is not to pare
costs
Ask Michael Burson course at CUFA of NCSS
- taught Stephanie
Need to focus on career goals first
- if IT, if social studies, if instructional tech - those
will be the program area
Generally you are hired by faculty from that program
- be careful of specialized
- think about the peer group that you want to work with
Stategy has been to provide funding to as many people as
possible
- not just picking a few elite people and giving them LOTS
of money
- total amount of package here will probably be less
- Judi got a better offer from Harvard, but felt philosophical
Should talke to Dr Kinsey about work in medical school
- are generic indicators for at risk children, trying to
develop tools that would allow children and families to maintain medical histories
John Bunch is IT coordinator, financial aide flows thru the
program area
- ask him about financial aid and his work with museums
