In today's world much of the time a child spends away from home is in the school. The influence a teacher has on their students is very important. Many students come from single parent homes, where the male influence is missing. I hope to be able to be that that male role model. I realize that I can't replace anyone's father, but having five children of my own I have some important skills to pass on to students if they wish to partake of that knowledge.
I want to teach History or Social Studies in grades 4-8.It was my father's love of Texas and it's rich history that brought us to Texas from Ohio 30 years ago. He instilled that love of history in me and I want to pass that on to children other than my own.
