AKS Minutes - January 11, 2005

Members in Attendance: Gary & Debbie Floyd Carl Holtman Jo Long Guest: Dani Fielding Location: 3201 Century Drive Gary called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm OLD BUSINESS: Minutes of the November 11, 2004 meeting were distributed, discussed and approved. Motion by Carl, second by Jo, motion carried. The Articles of Association were reviewed, executed and notarized. These will be added to our website. Gary reported that he has not had an opportunity to check with AKCA to see if they will pro-rate membership dues. He will follow-up and provide a report at the next meeting. Approval of the By-Laws was tabled. TREASURER’S REPORT: Carl presented a copy of the treasurer’s report to all attendees. Our account balance is $90.00 NEW BUSINESS: None CALL TO FLOOR: Carl told us about an Online Koi Show at Koiphen.com. He said his understanding of how it works is: Individuals submit payment for a Koi. They will be high quality from the same breeder approx. 8-10” in length. Cost is $150 + shipping for each Koi with a limit of 3 per person. The fish will be delivered in March or April (he wasn’t sure of the exact date) Fish will then be randomly distributed (to ensure fairness). Using a lottery type system. Fish will be shipped to everyone. Every six months photos will be submitted and various aspects will be judged. (growth, color, etc.) Additional information is available here. Some of the members said they have plans to enlarge their ponds in the Spring and this would not be a good time for them to get another fish. Dani graciously offered to temporarily house the Koi in her pond. Gary said that he was planning to raffle one of his fish at the next OWG (Ogallala Water Gardeners) meeting and donate the proceeds the AKS (Amarillo Koi Society). NEXT MEETING: The February meeting will be held on the 8th at Carl & Lisa’s house. CLUB ACTIVITIY: We viewed part 3 of the 3 part Koi Video Trilogy.
